March 10, 1928 - July 18, 2017

Avada Marie McCune, 89, a 13-year resident of Genesis Elder Care, Perring Parkway Center, Baltimore, Md. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2017.

Avada was the daughter of the late Darrell T. McClain and Effie Maye Sullivan McClain.  On May 31, 1947, she married her husband, Odis McCune.

Surviving is one daughter, Dawnetta Maye Herd and companion, Curtis Braun of Middle River, Md.; one grand-daughter, Jasmine Mayrie Bowling of Cecil County, Md.; one great-grand daughter, Taylor Avadalynn Connelly of Middle River and two great-grandsons, Charles Thomas Game of Middle River, Md. and Matthew Malakai Grauer of Cecil County, Md.; one great-great-grand-daughter, Madilynn Marie Holbrook and several nieces and nephews from out of town.

Her husband, Odis McCune; one daughter Odetta Faye Frederick; one grand-daughter, Anita Marie Frederick and two sisters, Edythe Chipps and Glenda McCune preceded her in death.

Renie, as her family all called her, was a very kind and loving person. She loved to sew and crochet. She was an excellent seamstress. She baby sat all her grand- children and great-grand-children. The children enjoyed making crafts with their grandma.

Visiting her family in WV was something she really enjoyed. It was a time when other family members came together to help her sister can beans, tomatoes and peaches.  After the canning was completed, they would sit around the table and talk while a Scrabble game was being played.  Scrabble was a family tradition and she loved playing as much as doing Crossword Puzzles.

She loved her cats & kittens!  One special cat was a big, orange colored one. Its name was Franky-Jo. Named after an Aunt & Uncle in WV.  During her time with Dawnetta and still home, she had several pets. Some she enjoyed and some not so much!

Most importantly, Renie loved to go out in service and spread God's Word. She was involved in several Bible Studies with the people she met. She was a baptized member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witness.

A private cremation was held.  Friends may call at the family owned Bruzdzinski Funeral Home P. A. at 1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex  at route 702 (beltway exit 36) on Saturday, July 29th from 2 to 3 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm.
