     On January 8, 2017; Joseph Stanko passed away in St. Petersburg, Florida.  He was predeceased by his wife M. Elaine Stanko, his parents Margaret Stanko and John M. Stanko, and his brothers Albert Stanko, Robert Stanko, John A. Stanko, Bernard Stanko and his sisters Sr. Concepta Stanko C.D.P. and Frances Luprek.  Joe is survived by his loving wife Bettie Schell-Stanko.  Devoted father of John Stanko and his wife Doreen, Erin Gephardt and her husband Jason, Michael Stanko and his wife Jennifer, Elaine Hayden and her husband John, Thomas Schell, Susan Thurston and her husband Michael.  Loving grandfather of Megan, Skyler, Reid, Andrew, Ryan and Jackson.  Dear brother of Estelle Friant, William Stanko and Susan Turmelle.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren through marriage. 

     Joe was raised in Johnstown, PA, was an avid golfer, and a longtime Steelers fan. Joe was retired from the Baltimore County Fire Department and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Elks, the BCOFD retiree’s association and Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Department. He was a US Army Veteran, a communicant of Mt Carmel Catholic Church and enjoyed winters in Florida. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.

    

Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 1704 Old Eastern Avenue Essex, Maryland 21221 on Saturday at 10:00 AM.  Visitation on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the family owned Bruzdzinski Funeral Home P.A.  1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex at Route 702 (beltway exit 36).  Interment Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.

    

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Diabetes Association or Breast Cancer Association.
