Rosemarie A. (Skrabut) Jones

Rosemarie Agnes Jones, 86, died on Dec. 23, 2017 in Baltimore County, MD. She was the beloved wife of David Jones, and beloved mother of Thomas, Kenneth, David, and Nancy.

She was born on Jan. 21, 1931, in Swoyersville, PA, to Mary and Frank Skrabut. Rosemarie graduated from Swoyersville High School and worked as a hospital phlebotomist in Scranton, PA. In 1952 she married David Jones, and their marriage lasted nearly 40 years until his death in 1992. Rosemarie and David moved to Essex, Maryland in 1952, where she continued her work at Baltimore's City Hospital. After raising four children, she worked as a hearing and vision screening technician for the Baltimore County school system.

Rosemarie served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and leader for three Boy Scouts and one Girl Scout. She loved craft projects and excelled in hand embroidery and quilling. Her favorite pursuit with husband Dave was trailer and RV camping with their many friends.

Rosemarie is survived by sister Valeria; children Tom (Liz), Ken (Paula), Nancy Oldewurtel (Steven), and daughter-in-law Sharrin Jones; grandchildren Nick, Alex, Annie, Ryan, Bryce, Hannah, and Taylor, and great-grandchildren Whitman and Jackson.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 26 from 6 to 8 pm at Bruzdzinski’s Funeral Home in Essex, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Essex, MD on Wednesday, December 27, at 9 am. Interment Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Rosemarie’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
