I've just learned of Paul's passing and am truly devastated by the news. Knowing that he was to retire this year was news sad enough for me, although thrilling for his family. I was a customer for 20 years. His expertise and willingness to dive into any project of what is now a 50-year-old family heirloom was beyond comforting for me. And we made quite a team. He'd tell me the part I'd need to find and I'd find it. Wherever. This always amazed him, but what always amazed me was his passion for his profession. I used to say to my wife that we should have invited him to our wedding. He was, indeed, a friend. The last proof of that was his volunteering to get in the trunk of my car this October and be driven around in order to locate a sudden annoying rattle - which proved to be a simple clip just slightly out of place. Only a friend would do that. I am truly, truly saddened by this news. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I have taken my cars to P&G for 30 years. Today I drove over to the shop to see if I could get an appointment and discovered he had departed. He was an honest and kind mechanic. I will miss chatting with him and pray for peace for his family.

Just called the shop to make an appointment for one last oil change and to wish Paul all the best in his retirement. What a shock when I head the message. Thoughts and prayers to the family. Paul was a great man and will be sorely missed.

I just heard the tape from the shop phone number. I thought I would get in one more oil change before Paul's retirement on Dec. 15. I will miss my oil changes accompanied by Paul and Kenny's friendliness and advice. No matter what inane comment I had about mechanical things and cars, Paul didn't laugh. He always listened and made me feel like I really did know something. I am sad that his grandchildren won't have Paul because I bet he was a great Grandpa. Paul was a genuinely nice person and they don't come around much any more.

You will find strength in what remains behind, Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory on one can steal. Wherever you are you will always be in my prayers and heart.
