Samuel William House passed away on August 30, 2017. He was born on October 31, 1922 in Baltimore, MD to his father Samuel William House and his mother Anna Elizabeth House (Nee Linder). He is survived by his wife of 70 years Eva Amelia House (Nee Pakaski) and his son Samuel Jr. and Sheila (daughter in law and widow of his late son Richard), grandsons Richard Jr. and Steven, great grandchildren Richard III and Alexa. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his younger son Richard and his daughter in law Deborah (the late wife of Samuel Jr.).

Samuel hunted and trapped as a young man on the Peninsula in Essex, Maryland. His Dad passed away when Samuel was just 13 years of age so he had to take on a huge responsibility early in life. He became strong and independent, doing the necessary things to enable his Mother and himself to survive. He was fortunate in that a wonderful man named John Deuchler later married Samuel's widowed Mother and they became a complete family once again.

Samuel worked for and retired after 30 years from General Motors Corporation. He was in World War II and served in the 3rd Army, 4th Armored Division under General Patton. He was in battle of The Bulge, the turning point of WWII.

Samuel loved living on the Chesapeake Bay and became a commercial crabber and fisherman while working the second shift for General Motors.  His waterman career began in 1960 when he successfully acquired his commercial crabbing license and later a commercial fishing license.  He continued his career as a Chesapeake Bay Waterman until 2006.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 2nd at 1 pm at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens, 10201 Bird River Road, Middle River, MD 21220. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. House's name to The American Red Cross Hurricane Harvey PO Box 37839 Boone, IA 50037-0839.
