From my family to yours, please accept our deepest condolences. Try to focus on all of the wonderful memories that we've all had with your dad. I feel safe in knowing that he's in good hands both with God and also because now he's home with your mom. Please know that you are in our thoughts and our prayers as we remember Uncle Bill so fondly.

The Dash
By Linda Ellis

I Read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning..to the end.

He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke of the following date with tears
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth
And now only those who love her
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars...the house...the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard;
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile...
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So when your eulogy is read
With your life's actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

Dad's Dash was above and beyond: he saved two lives in a flood, he taught football, he was commissioner of girls softball, director of majorette group, papaw to 6 grandchildren, papaw to 6 great grand children, father to 3 daughters, devoted husband, a friend to everyone, uncle, brother, and Mr Fixit!
We were Blessed!!

A Papaw Like You

Throughout the years, you've always been
A wonderful man, you see.
When I was small you took the time
to bounce me on your knee.

As I grew older you were there
I only had to call.
I knew that I could count on you
You'd never let me fall.

So many hard times in my life
You've helped to get me through,
I'm so glad God's given me
A Papaw just like you.

Our Dad

We'll always remember
that special smile,
that caring heart,
that warm embrace,
you always gave us.
You being there
for Mom and us
through good and bad times,
no matter what.
We'll always remember
you Dad because
they'll never be another one
to replace you in our hearts,
and the love we will always
have for you.

I have been blessed to have you as my Father!
You will be missed! I Love You!
Go rest high on that Mountain! Your work on earth is done! Go to Heaven a shoutin, Love for the Father and the Son!
