Brenda Suzan McGonigal

Brenda McGonigal, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 19, 2026. She was born on March 19, 1948, in Salisbury, North Carolina, to Granville and Catherine Ballard.

Brenda shared nearly 50 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Harry McGonigal. Together they built a life centered around family, love, and unwavering commitment. Their partnership was the foundation of a close and supportive family that meant everything to her.

She was a loving mother and is survived by her loving children, Justin McGonigal and his wife Amber, and Megan Lamont and her husband Michael. Brenda was a proud grandmother to Aidan, Bennett, Olivia, Ellie, and Sophia, each of whom brought her immense joy. Her family was always her top priority, and she took great pride in caring for and supporting them in every way.

Brenda was known for being a wonderful cook, always bringing people together around the table with meals made with care and love. She was also incredibly crafty, with a creative touch that showed in everything she made. These talents reflected the pride she took in her home and the joy she found in taking care of those around her.

Brenda was also a true fighter. She powered through multiple serious illnesses, countless hospital and ICU stays, and spent over ten years on dialysis with strength and resilience that inspired everyone around her. Through it all, she remained focused on her family and continued to show the same determination that defined her life.

She is survived by her brother, Tony Ballard (Vicky), and was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Reabe (Jim). She is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply, including her nieces and nephews, Michael, Nicole (Nathan), Kelly (Warren), and Tony (Jacqueline).

Brenda will be remembered for her strength, her devotion to her family, her resilience, her creativity, and the high standards she carried throughout her life. Her presence was steady, her love constant, and her legacy lives on through the family she cherished so deeply.
