Dolores Powers Gintling

Dolores Powers Gintling, 96, of Essex, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 27, 2025. Born in Rochester, NY on January 3, 1929, to Francis and Anna (nee Lauer) Powers, she lived a life filled with joy and love of family and adventure. She graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1947 and worked as a secretary for the Ft. Howard VA Hospital for 6 years. Once the children began to arrive, she dedicated her life to raising her family and making her home a place full of memories. She loved crafts, dancing, playing dominoes & poker, sewing, helping others, traveling but she especially loved ice cream!

She is survived by her children, daughter Anne Kay Whipple and husband Tom, daughter Clare Rybczynski and husband Phil, and daughter Margaret Mary Lennon and husband Mark.

Six beloved grandchildren: Thomas Whipple (Miriam), John Whipple (Paola), Kathleen Azie (Okechukwu), Enoch Whipple (Jessica), Jake Wyant, and Douglas Rybczynski; and 15 of the best great grandchildren in the whole world: Noah, Greta, Joshua, Lily, Silas, Gabriella, Elijah, Olivia, Naomi, Okechukwu, Amy, Reyna, Joel, Juliette and Ezra. Also, two sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, Robert, her son, Mark and her grandson, Samuel; also, her parents and three brothers.

Visitation will be at Bruzdzinski Funeral Home, 1407 Old Eastern Avenue on Sunday June 1, 2025 from 2PM to 4:30 PM. Funeral Service at 4:30 PM followed immediately with an ice cream social. All relatives and friends are welcome to stay and celebrate Dolores’ love of life and ice cream.

A private interment will be held the next day for the immediate family only.
