Emilie Mary Dunn (née Bochenek), a loving mother, grandmother, and devoted friend, passed away in Melbourne, Florida, on February 16, 2026. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was strong‑willed, thoughtful, and deeply passionate about the people and world around her.
She was the daughter of Casimir J. Bochenek and Emilie A. Bochenek, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her beloved husband, Gordon A. Dunn. Though she experienced profound loss, she met every challenge with grace, determination, and a steadfast heart.
A graduate of Our Lady of Fatima School, Emilie began her career as a computer operator for the State of Maryland, where many of her colleagues became lifelong friends. After retiring and moving to Florida, she continued to give of herself through her work with Seniors Helping Seniors, offering companionship, care, and kindness to older adults in her community.
She was a creative and passionate crafter, proud to gift her handmade blankets, scarves, and baby outfits to family, friends, and neighbors - each one a cherished expression of her warmth and generosity. She was also an accomplished cook, sharing delicious traditional Polish dishes and holiday meals with loved ones over many years.
Emilie is survived by her son, Frank L. Hosna, Jr.; her daughter, Andrea R. Hosna (Michael); and their father, Frank L. Hosna, Sr. (Liz). She also leaves behind her two cherished grandchildren, Joslyn K. Hosna and Brent L. Hosna, who brought her endless pride and joy. Also surviving are her daughter, Diana Oxley (Earl), and grandchildren Nichole Blomquist (Terry), Linnea Buerhaus (Wade), Matthew Hillegass (Sara), and Christopher Hillegass (Kylie). She will be dearly missed by her faithful dog, Cocoa. Her family will forever remember her infectious laugh and her fiercely protective nature.
Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the warmth she shared, and the love she wove - both literally and figuratively - throughout her years.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Emilie’s name to the charity of your choice.
A graveside service will be held on, Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens, 10201 Bird River Rd, Middle River, MD 21220.
