Howard Eugene Leister

June 8, 1932 – September 19, 2025

Howard Eugene Leister, 93, of Baltimore, Maryland, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 19, 2025. 

Born on June 8, 1932, Howard lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and love. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Hazel Marie Leister, whom he cherished deeply. Together they built a life rooted in family, faith, and service.

 He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Jim Yeager and Josie, Donna Chambers and Tim, John Yeager and Lisa, Deborah Kelly, David Couture and Renee Dunleavy. He also leaves behind many cherished grand- and great-grandnieces and nephews who loved him dearly. 

First and foremost, Howard loved his Lord and his family. He faithfully served his church for more than 65 years, living out his strong Christian faith in both word and deed. 

Howard proudly served his country in the United States Armed Forces during the Korean War. A gifted athlete, he once played professional baseball and carried a lifelong passion for sports. He was a devoted fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles, never missing a chance to cheer them on.

Howard spent the majority of his career working for the Singer Corp and Link Flight Simulators as a government contractor, where he was respected for his dedication and hard work. The same steadfast commitment he gave to his career also defined his service to his church, his family, and his Lord. 

Howard will also be remembered for his humor and joyful spirit. He was a true jokester who loved to bring smiles to those around him. If you met Howard, you would have been touched by his kindness, his love for family, his deep love for God, and his genuine appreciation for life. 

Friends may call at the family-owned Bruzdzinski Funeral Home P.A., 1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex, Maryland 21221, on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Middle River Baptist Church, 610 Middle River Road, Middle River, Maryland 21220, on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Parkwood Cemetery. Howard’s legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to inspire and live on through all who had the blessing of knowing him.
