Beloved husband of Cheryl Ann Hovel, Devoted father of Karl William Hovel Jr. and his fiance Amber, Matthew Kent Hovel and his wife Laura and Jason Erik Hovel; cherished grandfather of Hunter Jackson Hovel, Hayden Giles; loving son-in-law of Philomina McCardell and brother-in-law of Deanne McCardell.

A private cremation was held. A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
