Linda Kay France, age 61, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025.
Born and raised on Back River Neck, Linda was a lifelong resident of the community she cherished. She graduated from Chesapeake High School, where her bright spirit and quick wit began to leave their mark.
Linda’s laughter, her endless jokes, and her good heart made her friends wherever she went. She had a gift for turning ordinary moments into joyful ones and for making people feel truly seen and loved. Her presence was a comfort, her humor a balm, and her kindness unforgettable.
Linda shared a special and enduring love with her mother, Marylyn—a bond that shaped her gentle heart. She adored her dogs, who were not just companions but her children in every sense. They brought her joy, comfort, and unconditional love, and she gave them the same in return.
A gifted crafter, Linda had a remarkable ability to transform simple things into beautiful creations. She especially loved working with items she found in nature—leaves, shells, driftwood, and rocks. She could see characters hidden in the shapes of nature’s treasures and would bring them to life with paint, turning stones into whimsical faces and scenes that reflected her playful spirit and artistic eye.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Marylyn France; her sister, Margaret Gallagher; her brother, Donald France; and her niece, Jessica Knapp. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Charles Roberts; her aunts and uncles; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her closest friend, Heidi Wood. Each of them carries a piece of Linda’s spirit in their hearts.
Her friends were a light in her life—constant sources of laughter, support, and love. Their bond with Linda was deep and enduring, and their memories of her will continue to shine.
A memorial will be held at a later date, to be determined.
