The Chesapeake Bay has faded to black and white with your departure, Jack. I am proud to be your friend and always enjoyed crossing paths with you in unlikely places. It's going to be harder to have "...another fine day on the Chesapeake Bay!" without you out there on the Hornet, my friend. Have a safe trip and catch my lines when I get there.

I met the Deckleman clan so many years ago at a Chesapeake Appreciation Days boat
docking event and I have considered all of them my friends for over 30 years. Always enjoyed seeing Jack at Rock Hall, Tilghman and Balto. Co. Watermen's Day and any place else he showed up with his crowd. My MWA family is one person shy with the passing of Jack.

"Old" Middleborough has lost another member of the "Old Timers". My thoughts and prayers are with you Jack and Jeff and your entire family. Memories of our days growing up on Oak Avenue came flooding back like never before when I heard about your Dad. The time spent on that particular river bank, the pier, the boat yard, and your Dad will always be remembered with much happiness. Keep telling your Dad's stories as well as telling stories about your Dad and he will be with you forever. Your Dad already made his permanent impression on Middleborough and all the waterways in the area and that will never change or go away. My heart goes out to your entire family, God Bless!

I would like to give my condolences on behalf of Royal Farms. Mr. Jack will always have a special place in my heart. He was the sweetest man and I will miss him so. I always looked forward to serving him everyday when he came to play lottery. Mr. Jack would always say "This lottery is as crooked as a barrel of fish hooks." Well Mr. Jack it still is. I love you and will miss you. May you rest in peace my friend. Until I see you again.

Dear friends,
My sincerest condolences to the whole family at Jack's passing. He is an extraordinary man. I want to take this opportunity to thank you all and especially Jack for the kindness everyone has shown to my Grandson, Tom Casey, III.
Tom was mentored by Jack and taught the ways of a Waterman. Jack was like a Grandfather to Tom and always "had Tom's back".
As Tom's Grandmother, there will never be enough thank you's to you all and especially to Jack. Oh, how he will be missed.
Fair winds and calm seas Jack.

What will we do without the Mayor of Essex? Jack was such a wonderful person. He always looked out for us, policed the neighborhood and he always had something to talk about. That man could really tell a story. It's a very sad day. I'll miss my buddy. Thinking about you Laura & Jeff and the rest of your family.
